2010 Joint NNIN/C and NCN Fall Workshop
November 15-16, 2010
Location:Cornell Nanoscale Facility, Cornell An International Roadmap for Collaboration in Nanoscale Simulations
Nanoscience relies on intensive atomistic simulations that generate copious amounts of data. Since various ab-initio and empirical approaches exist in the field, there is a growing need to develop a common collaborative framework to provide meaningful comparisons between calculations and to also provide a set of robust technical compoents and results to help the next generation of researchers.
This workshop brings together leading figures in the fields of materials and nanoscale simulation to help develop a set of lingua franca formats and libraries for easy translation of input and output files between codes. We will address the creation of international cyberinfrastructure resources that deliver trusted components for atomistic calculations such as empirical potentials, pseudopotentials, basis sets, and atomic coordinates. Science rests on the concept of reproducibility and we will address the issue of linking calculation files and results directly with publications.

7th Nano imprint workshop
April 27th-28th, 2010
The Microelectronics Research Center (MRC) at The University of Texas at Austin will hold a workshop on Step and Flash Nano-Imprint Lithography (S-FIL). During the two hands-on sessions, the attendees will practice on the IMPRIO100 from Molecular Imprint Inc. and other state-of the-art equipments. For example Oxford RIE will be utilized to transfer imprints into substrate and Woollam ellipsometer will be used to measure the thickness of the different polymer films involved in the imprint fabrication process. A mold area of 1cm2 with intricate nano size features will be step and repeat over a wafer. Ultimately 70nm gratings will cover a large area (up yo 200mm2) in few hours.
